NORESTER 13173 is an orthophtalic unsaturated polyester resin dissolved into styrene, thixotropic and pre-accelerated.
NORESTER 13173 is specially designed for filament winding and hand lay-up application to obtain translucent laminates.
NORESTER 13173 does not contain any wax, paraffin or a colour change mechanism to indicate the state of cure.
NORESTER 13173 has good fibre wetting and impregnation properties.

NORESTER 920 is recommended for the production of laminates by hand lay up or spray application.
NORESTER 920 is thixotropic and contains a colour change mechanism to indicate the state of cure.
NORESTER 920 has very good fibre wetting and impregnation properties.

NORESTER 8420 is an ortho DCPD laminating low styrene contain resin specially designed for general purpose.
NORESTER 8420 is recommended for the production of laminates by hand lay up.
NORESTER 8420 is thixotropic and contains a colour change mechanism to indicate the state of cure.
NORESTER 8420 is also available in a low styrene version.
NORESTER 8420 has very good fibre wetting and impregnation properties.
NORESTER 8420 TA version remains tacky during 4 hours at 20°C with 2% of MEKP M50.

Hand Lay up
Hand Lay up application is a technique also called Open Mould.
The part is made by applying fabric on the gel coated
mould with a pre-accelerated polyester resin mixed with catalyst.
The resin is applied with rollers, brushes or a spray gun.
A phase of consolidating is then needed, to remove
the air from the laminate, using specific rollers.

The laminate will then have a smooth side (gel coat) and a rough side (fibreglass).
 
Advantages of the method:

     - The cost remains low

     - Allows the manufacturing of rather large parts (boat hull…)

      - Gives the opportunity to use technical fabrics (multi-axial, woven rovings…)
